Viernes de mixtape: No. 23 – The Funk Hunters
Este viernes rompemos las reglas de la sección para presentarles un poco del nu-funk que nos tiene vueltos locos desde hace varias semanas. Se trata de los bajos grasosos, metales recortados y beats pesados de The Funk Hunters.
Salidos de Canadá y equipados con 4 tornamesas, este dúo se ha convertido en una sensación dentro de la nueva escena del getto funk. A diferencia de mucho del nu funk que anda dando la vuelta, más allá de ponerle unos beats pesados a los éxitos viejos del soul, los Funk Hunters se caracterizan por introducir unos bajos tipo dubstep a sus mashups, incrementando el nivel de cabeceo unos cuantos grados más.
En esta ocasión les traemos su mixtape más reciente, “Open Season”, que funciona como un excelente escaparate tanto de la escena del nu funk, com de los bajos grasosos de sus creaciones. Pasando de un groove adictivo a otro, la emotividad de este set se consagra en el minuto 22 cuando aparece uno de los mejores trancazos de The Funk Hunters, su remix a la canción de “Soul Man”, misma que los debería incitar a invitar la siguiente ronda de cervezas.
A los Funk Hunters no los conocemos personalmente, ni hemos compartido mensajes de internet, simplemente nos gusta su groove y nos parece apropiado para este viernes de puente y de aniversario de la expropiación petrolera. Esperamos que lo disfruten y los haga sacudir sus caderas.
